Strange request and nothing to do with wanting shooting or hawk flying .
Both my landlord dog and his brothers suffer from fits ,,the cause has been narrowed down to their diet .
Recently both have put onto fresh rabbit which seems to be helping with both of them ,,ones a lurcher X and the other is a big Jack Russell .
They've both been eating tripe but typical dogs they have lost interest in it but love fresh bunny .
Only able to get imported Chinese rabbit from the butcher and not cheap ,,,Anybody in the vermin control business or gamekeepers here have a glut of bunny's they could spare a few ,,
Lincs area for local pick up if anyone can supply .
We just dont seem to have many round here ,buzzards, owls and needless to say ,the dog boys at night .

I've just lost my rabbiting permission due to the owners of the land starting a new venture, otherwise I would have been able to help you out.Although to be honest there doesn't seem to be as many about this year.

We went lamping and got 23 last week, apart from a few I keep to use in stew and a couple for the ferrets the rest get wasted. Local butchers don't seem interested.

Sounds as if you had all better come to Scotland. But bring your own ferrets. The last ones for sale up here were £50 each. I am quite serious. I shall be trying out an old recipe to smoke them (rabbits) out next week.

I'm curious about the original post. Is the feed causing the fits something out of a bag (i.e. commercial dog food)? Nerver heard of a dog not being interested in eating tripe, unless they are over fed, of course. They are not over keen on sheep tripe and heavily washed tripe is less attractive to them. I'd also be suspcious of the commercialised tinned or chubbed tripe. The best by far is unwashed beef tripe fed raw direct from the abattoir -- if you can get it at a reasonable price. (Slaughter houses are getting greedy!). Any stomach contents still attached to the tripe will be rich in the B vitamins. I once fed washed beef tripe to dogs with no acess to grass (which is another source of B vitamins). They developed vit B deficiency related fits. One was doing a sort of 'wall of death' gallop around the kennels, bouncing off the walls! A single injection produced an instant improvement and a change back to dirty or green tripe effected a permanent cure.

The vet has suggested not using comercial produced canned foods as it might be the additives causing the problem ,,so both dogs have been on tripe ,,JR is a fussy little blighter so he is now on fresh rabbit ,,his fits have decreased to a minimal amount ,still has the od one but nothing like what he was having ,,Lurcher will eat beef tripe but rabbits smell abit sweeter
