Had heard it was wet Stirling direction too. Looks like it could be wet here tomorrow. We never started till 1st of April last year and had best yields ever.

We had really good yields too, think it was more to do with the good summer than sowing dates though.

Aah the land of milk and honey..... and money

Trouble is on our chalk if you don't get regular rain the grass burns off quickly and you end up feeding in hot summers so it's a good job there's plenty of money . Further down the valley there's a few found some wet spots and I don't envy the combine drivers job this year.

Wouldnt mind a good soaking to get the seed going. Our soil is quite dry, only had drizzly rain yesterday and its just wet the top of the soil. Been sown 12 days now and nothing showing through yet

That looks bone dry compared to anything round here

It's not bad it's just got an Mg index of about 9 which means it sticks to everything had to lift the packer out completely on the cultivator. if I don't pull it up it won't dry before August

Where's here? I flew into Manchester last week and it looked very wet around there

Heavy drizzle (the kind that soaks you in half an hour) for over 24 hours here and the river at the top of its banks.
63mm for the week, most of which from Friday onwards.

Drilled a few acres of Lupins on very light land yesterday. Got the preem on nice damp soil.

Rain overnight means sticky land here won't go till mid week or later if it rains again Monday.

Wind blowing again now so spraying and spreading off.

If we can get the barley drilled this week, apart from an inch about June/July you can have mine till August most of our soil won't need it

The trouble is, that a day's rain will do the trick if it's too dry, but when it's too wet, we need a dry month

Been dry here for a good few weeks and the ground is hard and the grass has temperature but not much moisture

We seem to be a Country of two halves again this year
