If a resolved IR animal occured before 1st November 2017 when the new policy came in , are these cattle restricted to there original holding for life?

We have always sent resolved IRs direct to slaughter even before the restrictions came in.

Not my herd, the chap has died who had the few cattle and I'm helping sort them out.

Had several in the past who have never had an issue ever again

As far as I’m aware it only applies to IR’s after that date and is not back dated.

You could try ringing animal health.................although I must admit I find them frustratingly annoying to deal with

However, if they're now restricted......
I'm told that it may be possible to have IR's gamma tested, and if clear, they can maybe then be moved holdings.
(like I know wtf I'm talking about!)

Just a stat for you, if you wonder why APHA want IRs restricted so...
Before this rule came in .....24% of all IRs were going on to become reactors later.

Yes I was trying to avoid a phone call to them, especially as there not my cattle. The resolved IR is a fair way in calf now so wants ridding when she's had the calf.

You'd have thought if that many went on to be reactors APHA would insist they were gamma tested.

Yes, I read that just the other day in some paperwork from animal health, if they test clear on a gamma test the restrictions on moving IR’s is lifted.
