Door blew in in recent winds. What is best way bracing them. Have put strap and wood batten on the inside , but its a pain to take down every morning.
thanks for reply. the l brackets snapped of and btm 2 mtres blew in. same size as you 6mtr x appros 6.5mtrHas it got the extra wind clips on the end of the door strips? Our big door 6mx6.3m high has L shaped pieces on both ends of the horizontal strips every 5 or so strips . These locate in the groove in the vertical door channel to prevent them pulling out.
On really rough days it does bow in an alarming amount but so far not pulled out. On odd 70mph plus days I put the telehandler headstock parked against the centre with a mattress strapped to it! It faces bang on SW which is our main prevailing wind direction.
thanks for reply. that would work. approx 2 mtr at side of doors to fold a gate into if it hinged into 2mtr lenghtsPresumably this is a larger door without wind locks ?
The easiest & generally most successful is a twin railed horizontal gate made out of Rectangular Hollow section with horizontal sections ~3ft apart that hinges on one side midway up the door on the inside & can swing clear of the opening out of the way when not in use, however without knowing your situation & layout this may be no use.
A simple spring catch released by a rope or a bar down to floor level to hold it in place when closed & open which can be also used to swing it round saves a whole lot of faff.
Interesting that the bottom 2mts blew in as its usually the middle I have seen bulge inwards then separate & wallop about wildly sometimes damaging the inside roof & sides as well as whatever is stored nearby. I guess its just how the wind funnels towards itthanks for reply. the l brackets snapped of and btm 2 mtres blew in. same size as you 6mtr x appros 6.5mtr
