Replacing a roof on an old shed. What is generally cheaper? The cement fibre type sheets or the modern profile type sheets?

What are the modern ones made out of? Do they provide the same insulation?

Any general comments/advice welcome.

Thanks.

Stoosh, Fibre Cement should be cheaper, check everywhere for stock & prices, make sure your purlins suit whatever you choose weight distribution wise & spacing wise

Fibre cement is a good alternative to metal profiled sheeting.

As to some of the responses on here where it states that they're easier to fall through - you shouldn't be walking direct ontop of the fibre cement sheeting unless using the proper access equipment (such as platforms or boarding). With regards to sheets lifting due to the wind, wind exposure zones should be considered and taken into account depending on the area you would be situated in. If the sheeting is being lifted due to the wind, the chances are is that the installer has not fitted the sheets correctly.

Just priced a new shed and fibre is much cheaper including installation. As above, if fitted correctly it wont leak for 40 years. Needing to replace plenty 40-50 year old roofs here, both fibre and tin.
