Don't to think you can turn the gearbox. Will this make it 540?
Sorry , I mean try to buy a 540 gearbox from a dealer . Or talk to a lely or ex lely dealers, they should advise or may have a 540 box available . They're a lovely mower and kind on a tractor linkage and good cut

Not too hard to confirm ratio by turning one side and watching other.
Yes I can confirm it's a 1:1 gearbox so turning it won't make a difference. When u put the tractor in 540 e and rev her flat out u get 800 at the shaft but when u attach the mower it knows what ur trying to do and shuts herself down to 600. Which does cut but I can only go 2mph. Any faster forward Speen doesn't cut clean. So the next question is can I stop the tractor shutting itself down is ther a fuse of something I can remove ?

Get to the field, run the pto (engine) flat out and try it first. As you have no conditioner, the torque load should not be an issue as cutting grass is low power consumption, as long as you travel slowly.

Yeh i have tried and as I say the tractor shuts itself down annoyingly..... it does work if I don't go over 2mph forward speed

MF must be going backwards. 4 speed PTO was on all the Massey's I had since 1988. And up to 2000.
1000e great for mowing. 10' moco.
Don't understand why all tractor's haven't got 4 speed .
