Scottish beef event

I wasn't at the event, dagging ewes all that week and had the farm tour on trailer when Scotsheep was there 10 or so years ago.

Read a couple of the pre-event articles in the farming press and came across very much as if the Lim breed was the answer to breeding your own replacement cows within a closed herd which everyone who attended would have demonstrated to them so was expressing my surprise that the event had barely featured on here given that view goes contrary to everything anyone other than @shearerlad has been saying here for months.

I saw exactly what I expected to see.

Yeah , but if you're going to host one of these Open Days , do you expect the pre-event publicity to be anything but positive? Obviously the press are going to talk it up. It would be rude to the hosts not to.

Whether the Limousin makes a suitable self replacing cow for maternal traits is something that those who attended the day would no doubt judge for themselves.

I have resisted to comment because I don't want to enter into another breed a versus breed b argument.

It is possible to use any breed to self replace, if animals with the desired traits are kept.
I was suitably impressed with the outfit and backed up this by buying a pen of bullers. I will let you know how they mature and rear their calves on a different farm.
