Brilliant thread Clive!!! Really enjoyed reading/looking at all that. Please do keep us all posted.
Pete how kind of you to think of me! Clive loves my feedback - now we have something else in common - I too have a 1969 Landrover - except mine is a 109, full carpeted out spec with proper door cards, left foot dip switch, Salisbury axle, overdrive, and a proper heater. (And a 2.25 diesel....and no MOT!)You’ve worked hard, taken risks, invested money. Time for some reward.
Get out there and do it. Do it all, do it well and do it safely.
And bring your favourite internet sparring partner a stick of rock home……,
Excellent adventure @Clive , won't be quick thoughNot sure if this is interesting content "off topic" for a farming forum or not ? (please let me know if not and I will stop boring you all).

It's an event that's run for a while now, started as a bike thing but opened up to 4x4's 30yrs or older a few years back - combination of hotels and camping off grid in some seriously remote spots with medical and mechanical support, its not a race (........... officially at least !)
Prep and packing nearly done now - should be quite an adventure

Another 1969 109 #HalcyonyearSand ladders are the vital accessory, from experience (photos from 1973). NB the winch is the header lift motor from a Massey 780 combine .View attachment 1176356View attachment 1176357

Sold it in about 1979, I think, as I spent 22 years working in Africa where I had a 1956 Ser 1 86", Unimog S, Jeep CJ5 and Haflinger as well as motorbikes ending up with a BMW R80GSHave you still got it?
