This trial has shown us they don't give an economic return here so we won't use them. If there ever was a year they should prove themselves it was this one due to the higher yields widely reported, but they haven't.

it was a low pressure / cold year however I guess just to counter that slightly ?

would be interesting to re run this in a hot/ wet growing season I reckon ?

As stated earlier hindsight is 20:20. At the start up here it was cold and damp which leaned toward a Septoria/rust year but then it dried up and rates were reduced significantly and cheaper alternatives used.
If you are growing Consort or Riband which have always been in the top three yielders here then T0 is Nov.

Would they have paid last year if commodity prices were the same as this year, depends how well you used old chemistry!?
Last year I used a Teb+CTL for T0, Epoxi+CTL for T1
Adexar+Epoxi+CTL for T2
and Prothio T3
I'm pretty sure I got a very good ROI from that program and I don't think I could have shaved much without compromising yield, even at today's prices I would have done the same

That looked good until i saw a fugicide which started with Pro---
Then I can only see Farmer is Screwed.
But I am sure you will all tell me I am so wrong,,

It was not cheep but it did its job well enough and any misses stuck out like a sore thumb, I had been in the habit of using straight Teb for T3, this years T3 was Teb+CTL and I think it is at least as good as Protio but last year I couldn't get CTL at that time.

Its fairly clear it's a low disease/response year this year, so your programme was probably right, I don't think it would be wise to draw that conclusion for every year unless you have the power to forecast the weather 4 weeks in advance!

talking to pals those who have spent a lot are moaning about price/cost those who havnt are enjoying combining as most crops are doing better than they hoped seems this year is benefiting the least cost producer

Trouble is we don't have anything that's curative so you need yo take a best guess as to the weather. The last few springs have been mainly dry and cool so should we just treat according to that weather pattern? The way ahead has to be resistant varieties but anything new that comes along seems to breakdown quickly to disease.
