Just been using our new MF1840, only done 1700 bales so far. No big difference in out put to our 11 year old jd459. Will see how it goes in straw. B&b tractors have sold 9 this year. They have another 3 in stock. Ours was about 2k cheaper than a new jd.

Is it hard to keep an eye on the sledge with it being right behind you?

A +1 for second hand welger here, our 830 will eat anything and fire bales out at a silly rate. It’s been barely any trouble in 11 years with minimal maintenance, Huge upgrade from the NH 575 we had before which I would guess is similar to the new holland offering now? But for new new, I’m not sure I’m afraid!

The other thing I forgot to say, a welger can make regular sized conventionals, ours has a bale reduction kit on it which is basically a sheet of 3/4 plyboard in each side of the chamber

It’s only a foot more to the side than our JD. But the knotters/fan/guards are higher which blocks a bit of the view. It’s harder to watch the pickup, not a problem in long even runs, but if the crop varys it harder see if you need to speed up/down. Will know better when we get to use it more.

Slightly off topic , what baler makes the smallest conventional bale? Or can you alter them?
had a new holland in the 80s that made a 2/3 size conventional bale , should never have sold it , was a good baler and rare . But thought trading up to normal bales would be quicker and easier . ideal for the horse crowd

Do you have a rough idea how much a Kuhns accumulator costs?
I really like the look of them!

No idea on cost

Our new ritchie sledge was stolen so we have a knackered old cooks which has cost us thousands in down time & oppertunity time. The old cooks can't keep up in a 220 bale/acre hay crop. So I like the idea of the Kuhns. BUT it might be arkward if two spools of string came undone or a knot got stuck in the billhooks.
