I have spent the most of my 77 years living in a town once famed as being the dirtiest town in the United Kingdom and many of those years were spent working in the local chemical industry.
I dread to think what our lungs may look like!
Nature already thought of that. The lungs have their own waste disposal system. Unfortunately it works kind of 'indirectly' in that it tends to collect incoming garbage in a film of mucus, then wafts it up your throat until you swallow it and pass it out the other end.
