So what is high hours for a tractor ? or miles for a car ?

When I sold my old fourtrak it was the first vehicle I had ever sold in working order
I got threw 8-9 cars from 17-19 all gone to heaven

Weirdly my seat Ibiza has nearly done 5 years I’ve never known a car so tough gets its nuts revved off it as it’s only a 1.4 petrol and it’s abit hilly round here.. goes up rough farm tracks every day and gets used as a van only gets washed when the number plate disappears to

Yes it is! AVF engine.

Bought it with 160.000 km in 2006. Chiptued it right away to 170 HP

In 2010 at 280.000 km it got a bigger KKK turbo from 170hp Audi A4 and ofcourse adjusted software. And a stronger clutch.... Brakes are upgraded as well.

Feel better for seeing that, got a couple of trucks with 700k km on but found that same screen on the dash saying 12000 hours. Was thinking if it had been a tractor would I have still bought it?

Think they shift them on at about 6 years and 1.4 million km's now and don't expect to have rebuilt too many motors before they go. Electrics seem to be a bit iffy on the Volvo's but pretty good trucks really. Seems to be a reasonable market for them 2nd hand here, a lot end up on farms or with ag contractors, bit of a lottery at those K's though:nailbiting:
12000's only just run in(y)

Personally as stupid as it sounds I believe whatever the dash indicates near as makes no difference.

Before someone says brand X tractor will still be working on when the rest are broken - not really.

Some tractors will jog to 12k hours with hardly a spanner on them save for worn out seats, lift pumps, starters etc, some will struggle and be like triggers brush, like has been said, the steering wheel attendant/owner makes a huge difference.

Car wise I had 225k on a E36, 230k on an outback, 195 k on a Peugeot luxobarge, all sold working.

Currently 176k on a Saab 2.3 Aero and 200k on another Outback.

All of them have been great cars to be fair. The Peugeot never failed to throw on a warning light on every journey though, it was a highly strung sensitive old thing.

My oul boy had a friend with a Volvo v70 sold it with over 370k on the clock nothing but routine maintenance. I would livl to know what happened it, if it made the 400 mark.

1.9 tdi was the best engine vw ever made, in fact most stuff including tractors between mid 90's and mid 00's were pretty good.
Well i had from new the ARL 150hp PD Tdi in a seat leon FR & i liked that engine far more so over the rep i bought the mk3 with the latest 2lt TDI than has no engine sound whatsoever no turbo wooosh
As for the OP yeah 150,000 is the min exp norm outta most cars nowerdays & 10000hrs on a decent arable tractor its still done a fair but of graft.

Many moons ago I was in a a taxi in Tunisia when the driver suddenly jumped up and out of the vehicle cheering and kissing the vehicle. It was a diesel Mercedes Benz 190 saloon car,the km just clocked up whilst I was a passenger was 1,000,000.km. I quizzed the driver, vehicle was on its original engine, but was strictly serviced every 10,000.km and that was it.

My auntie lives in Washington State, had her first new car at 55,a Honda petrol estate, stickshift ,much to the chagrin of the salesman.20 years later she still has the car, serviced on the button by Honda,320 k miles on the clock, same gearbox and engine!
My Honda CRV diesel is obviously just run in at 162k miles.
Maxxum 5140,21k hours,purchased with 15k hours from my contactor,unfortunately repowered at 15.5k hours,still original gearbox though,Manitou 629/120,11k hours,going ok for a dairy farm!

Mechanic in the yard says this, all the modern stuff is junk in his opinion!!
Leyland Daf 45 with the Cummins donk done 435k and still going like a rocket, Isuzu 2.8 trooper had 2 and they went to 220k and 180k a piece, rust got the better of them eventually.
When we scrapped a few 3.1 troopers the fella taking them said he was always looking for the 2.8s to export and he had a good market for them older ones
