So we have some established docks and thistles etc that I want to get rid of.
Knapsack and quad sprayer.
Grazon pro.
Doxstar Pro.
Pastor.
Thistles.
What to use?
Rather have something that will work on all rather than just one weed but does it do as good a job?

Only one is allowed in a handheld sprayer… grazon pro. If rules aren’t your thing then I’d go forefront which is an awesome chemical though expensive. Next would be thistlex mixed with fluroxypyr (minstrel) to make a cheap pastor, or used to be anyway.

Thanks ollie

You may find this time of year actually works better than a spring where day and night temperatures are all over the place and plant growth is stop-start.

I have had some embarrassing results with a large array of grassland herbicides when they had been applied in spring when the weather wasn't being helpful.

I've had a good few fudge ups, mostly because in my (and often the farmer's enthusiasm) we went too early, the weeds curl up a bit but recover and don't die. Might as well just go and put a litre of MCPA over everything and trick yourself into thinking that will work.
