Anyone done any yet?

If so what variety and seed rate have you used?

Not got any in yet, normally go about the 160kg/ha mark.

None sown here but hoping to get cracking as soon as I've got some land turned over ready. I'm growing Propino & will be planting at 330 seeds/m2 in a good seedbed. TGW of 44g so that's 150 kg/ha.

If we put 150kgs/ha on some of this land it would be a waste of time getting the combine out

Down here its 200kgs/ha minimum, wouldnt ever consider going any lower, have been up to 250 on some years if we have been late getting it in

Same here. 225 is my target rate.

Men's land, by any chance?;)
Oh yes, sort of stuff if you get it on the cab floor when your ploughing, its just about dried out by the time you get the tractor out for drilling the next year

We seem to get best yeilds by going heavy on seed rates and light on nitrogen, rarely put above 125kgs/ha on, sometimes even less, we operate on a low cost system, i cant be doing with running through it with the sprayer every other day like some do, it gets an early fungicide/herbicide/MNO mix, then a grassweed/MNO mix, followed by a fungicide top up later on, thats it

Hi TW

Was that you planting near the Handley roundabout on Wednesday in the FW30? How did the seedbed look?
Yes hugh was drilling spring wheat in that little field seedbeds not to bad maybe could of held off for a couple more days but you know what it is like get a bit twitchy about the weather holding off . Just got in from rolling it in tonight clouds of dust coming of the rolls it has realy pitched of well with these winds.
Just got to finish the other roadside field and another 45 acre piece in the middle of the farm and that will see all spring wheat in .
