There is nothing better than diesel generators in terms of reliability and economy.

A diesel generator producing 100kw of electricity will use about 25 lires of diesel an hour. Diesel has 10kw of energy per litre so thats a total of 250kw of energy. The extra 150 kw is almost all heat. With an efficient heat capture system on engine and exhaust and room space using heat pumps a diesel generator is way cheaper than the grid if you can use the heat 24/7 ie chicken sheds, greenhouses etc. 250kwh of electricity at £0.35 will cost you £87.50. We all know how much 25 litres of diesel costs.
