Looking to get a staple gun for fencing. What’s about? What have you got? How does the cost of gas/staples workout?

How are they in the rain??

Cheers

A friend got a Montana (I think) one which cost around £3-350ish. He's very happy with it. I've noticed McVeigh have started selling the BeA ones for £399. Supposed to have a rep bringing one out to have a look over it. At over double the price I'm not sure I could justify the Stockade one - plus I'm not sure what it does extra to the cheaper versions. Be interested to know from anyone who's tried both a cheaper one and the Stockade.

First day with the new staple gun, went for a Montana at £352+vat, delighted with it so far, hopefully it’ll last well. Has taken stapling each post down to sub 9 seconds, made stapling the bottom wires a doddle in challenging (heather/moss/peat hags) conditions, and leaves a very uniform and tidy finish (staple depth/position).

@Willie adie will have an opinion.
I've got both the stockade ones air and gas. They are both good but the cost of the staples is crippling. Over £70 for 50mm gas staples (they don't sell the non gas ones here in UK). At 6 staples / post at 3m it's 10p/m just for the staples. They are much quicker than stapling by hand but with the cost of the gun on top I can't get my head around them being cost effective.

The other makes of guns don't drive a 4mm staple but if they do 50mm's I might seriously look to swapping to a different brand.

as teppapa says i have the tjep( exactly the same as bea and montana).
now most with the stockede look down there noses at the tjep. stockade them selves are very disparaging. saying the technology is " 10 years old" .
now ive had a quick go of the stockade and its a heavier tool.
and another member here owns a stockade but upon seeing my tjep said he felt it was better value for money.
the stockade brigade flag up the staples issue well any customer i have used it at are shown the staples and asked of they have a problem to which no one has refused yet.
the tjep is more than 50% cheaper. staples cheaper. gas cheaper. and for me ticks the boxes for value for money at a price i can justify.

i spoke to someone involved with marketing the stockade he said that he feels there are going to be issues coming up regarding problems with the stockade in the near future.
the main issue i see with stockade is the staple costs are eye watering.
