holy smoke thats a shock i always viewed stephen as a forum pal despite butting heads with him on numerous occasions.funny how you view folks on forums as being immortal and just see the forum persona when the reality is they are just like you.i quite fancy going to his wake as i bet it will be a cracker.

I remember the Ukraine thread about a month ago. He put across a very different point of view from most of the other participants and stuck rigidly to his guns throughout. Made for interesting reading- didn't necessarily agree with what he was saying but respected his clearly well-informed opinion.

Great shame and condolences to his family.

Very sad news indeed, always brought lots of good discussion to the forum. Had the pleasure of being in Stephens company for four days last year, as you can imagine the conversation got real interesting as the wine flowed :)
Stephen certainly lived a full and interesting life, and had the stories and knowledge to go with it.

Condolences to Stephen's family and those he leaves behind.

What a shock! He was an enigma. I could never work him out and was always at a loss as to what he did. Was he a manager of a big unit? Was he a consultant? Did he work for a political farming body? He was a font of information and unswaying beliefs and he will be missed. RIP Elmsted.
