Straight sulphur options

Got some expensive urea to use first but no so3.

Normally use piamon but don't have any this year as it was too dear...

On land needing potash planning on using potash plus .... however some land has had fiberphose so just need sulphur.... heavy land hybrid rye I may skip sulphur altogether to save £ however would like some straight sulphur.... any recommendations or comments welcome tia

Get some tiger 90 or similar product and get it put on now, last time I got some there was another brand but same as tiger 90 and in big bags ( from memory 250kg) I have a stocks spreader with a bigger hopper for grass seeds and could do a fair few acres per fill with the spreader on the mule)

Polysulphate is ok, needs to be on early though

I’m using polysulphate on everything this year as I tried it on a farm last year and didn’t see any disadvantages with it other that the extra pass to put some n on. I don’t grow rye but I’m putting 100kg/ha on wheat and barley so I guess rye will be similar

Using polysulphate and 46% urea here too on winter crops and for silage.

Tiger 90 we are told here needs to be applied the year before or as a maintenance dressing due to it being elemental sulphur.

No idea on prices as haven't bought any recently, but Calcifert S (Calcium and Sulphur) and Kieserite (Mag and Sulphur) have both worked well here in the past, at what were reasonable prices.

Both of these products would do the job, depending on price and whether or not you need the Magnesium.

Isn't there bagged powdered sulphur that you can add to a sprayer tank mix? I'm sure I used it years ago but can't remember the name now! I think organics can use it, fungicide properties as well ?

You can get that sort of gear drill beet growers use it. Sovereign gold is another elemental S source (225% SO3 equivalent off top of head). Elemental S want’s doing asap imo. I didn’t get on with it and have switched to kieserite and poly S instead

Depends how finely ground I expect - very fine grind here pressed into pastilles to ease spreading.

Might be due to the longer wetter growing season. They say not to incorporate it as it needs the weathering to break it down into I believe an oxide. I’d like to find a replacement to ammonium sulphate,I bin all my fertilizer over winter and N and S blend can go hard if your not careful.

Brimstone 90 is far better. supplies enough sulphur to last the season in 1 application. Doesn't leach either which most others do. Huge bonus.

You will only use it once! Bloody horrible stuff!

What are your soil types and deficiencies @jon9000 ?

Fibrophos, kieserite, polyhalite, gypsum, manures all provide forms of varying availability S.
