Sulky v kv spreader

What are sulky spreaders like? Currently have the kv geospread and get on well with it. Might change this year. What are the sulky like? Main differences I see is sulky only use one weigh cell compared to kv 4 cells. How well does this work on hills/across slopes?

How accurate is border spreading?

Thanks

Why are approved weigh stations for trucks always build level and weighing is static? So using weigh cells in a mobile machine is not a good invention... maybe better look for another system
You don’t read it on the go for accuracy because it fluctuates wildly but I not need to stop for a second or 2 and it settles

I followed a Geospread yesterday, it looked like it might be a bit of a feat to wash all the nooks and crannies clean, tbh.

It does take a fair while to wash it off properly. Especially after the likes of polysulphate which has a lot of powder in it.

Probably it's biggest downside.

I went to a different breed from a kv last year check that whatever you get will keep an even spread pattern on hills.

The best bit about the kv for me was the simple system to keep the spread pattern the same . Current machine is very good but has a complicated electronic system for doing what the kv did mechanically.

I like our Kuhn.

Apparently they weigh product based on resistance against vanes when spreading!

Which sounds very complicated to me.

Ours doesn't have weigh features .

Also a big fan of KRM, mine is 10 years old now, replaced the actuator for the 1st time last year. Might change next season, tempted by a kv to see what all the fusss is about 😂

Is that what you have now,?
Hydraulic amazone now .
Mine doesn't do the rate off the Hydraulic pressure but it is available now as far as I'm aware. But it does tell you if there's a blockage and open up or it'll tell you if you run out on one side before the other .

I had a kuhn a few years ago with it on and it was brilliant if you were spreading crap either lumpy or wet and it sorted it out no issue at all .

i have a sulky x40 really like it although it has taken me a little getting used to the start of procedure, zero it and click test after filled.
it beeps after 200kg spread, stop at next headland and it weighs it off it then alters the rate to match this weight and has been bang on when i get the start right.

kv was my only other consideration with multiple vanes. the sulky section control reduces the spreading width as well as the amount applied unlike krm which i believe only alters the rate.

Our sulky will be 18 years old this year and it's still like brand new cos I wash and oil it after each use. Not many nooks and crannies on it underneath and it's pretty open and accessible to wash down, takes me about 10 mins to powerwash each time. The only parts I've changed in 18 years are the spreader veins which are a consumable part anyway otherwise it's never had a spanner on it. It's always spread very evenly, I would do tray tests occasionally and you'd never see stripes in any crops I've ever grown. Mine hasn't weigh cells but a standing calibration takes 5 mins and it's every bit as accurate.
