Ukraine is basically two halves the western half is more aligned with the EU and wants to build stronger ties. The East looks to Russia, it goes back to the USSR the mining industry in the East needed workers and offered employment opportunities to ethnic Russians. People in the west support Zelensky in the east Putin, but the vast majority only want a peaceful life and leave politics out of it.Not sure what to make of his popularity, maybe it's a war thing where your leader is all you have left to believe in.
Something that has bothered me from early on has been that every time so called humanitarian corridors were arranged for people to leave the towns & cities for safety their way out was always being blocked by the "Russians" with missiles & I can't for the life of me explain why the Russians would want people to stay in the cities & towns when they couldn't claim a win before the people had finally left.
You might say it's because they are evil barstewards but with their armour being picked off regularly whilst surrounding these towns & cities you would have thought even the most stupid Russian would think the sooner they are gone the better & safer for us?
Perhaps someone has an explanation.
