I had two friends an Israeli who owned a farm and a Scottish lad who was his farm manager. They were selling plots on the farm for cash which they kept overnight in the office. One night a gang attacked the Scots lad's house. The Israeli was alerted and the Scottish lad managed to get away. Whilst the gang were in the house the Israeli and the Scottish lad came back with an automatic pistol and shotgun and executed six people in the kitchen. I saw the aftermath blood everywhere ceiling tiles dislodged where the robbers tried to get out by the roof and bullet holes everywhere. It's really not very nice. Another young white guy also working for an Israeli was stopped whilst returning to his house this time they didn't bother waiting for him to give them a taste of their own medicine but shot him straight. He was armed but it didn't help. My wife and I had to clean up a pack house where thugs had tried to rob the workers on pay day unfortunately for them the workers had very sharp knives and butchered three robbers. People have an awful lot of blood in them and killing with knives leaves a lot of meat and stuff around. I could go on. I live in a dangerous place most of you don't.
I don't own a gun and I don't always lock my doors. So much that has been written on here is just rubbish killing someone really is a last resort.
I would find it hard to live in a place where you consider this unpleasant, but not abnormal.
I want to live where a lot of people get angry every [checks thread] 8 years because a farmer shot a robber.

It would be better if fewer people were trying to do but more importantly that fewer were dead because they tried.

On a personal level I think revenge is best served cold, but you have to be prepared to do it yourself or know people that will for an affordable price. I like this because the individual recognises that there are easier ways to earn a living and no one goes to very expensive jail. And if they are a "bad lad" word gets round.

This chap was reported as one of those.

August bank holiday last year a neighbour had his quad stolen while he was in the house,he jumped in his 4x4 and gave chase,he finally caught up with the quad five miles away in another village,he rammed the quad and knocked the thief off it😲 unfortunately he got away and another neighbour helped him recover the quad and reported the theft to the police, three days later when the police hadn’t followed anything up the neighbour rang the police,he got a bit shirty with them about not doing anything and ended up being cautioned 😂

It was a dangerous game stealing a quad off an 80 year old, when told he should be careful he could end up locked up for killing the thief he said “Well at least I’d get fed in prison”

No doubt the days of a bloke just wandering around and taking something have gone. There's usually two or three together and they're tooled up in case they get challenged. Ifor Williams trailer went in broad daylight locally, police and others know who it was but they're a bunch you don't want to go messing with. Lock the replacement up a bit better and move on seems to be the advice.
Chatting with a local Police Dog handler this week, and I commented that we have a nice show of Leverets this time near some ground they exercise the dogs on here, "until the Pikies turn up..."

He said that the amount of rural crime locally has plummeted after a series of arrests on the big family gang stealing farm kit all over the region and several locked up on remand. £100M is the estimate!! Police are hoping for proper sentences..... Here's hoping. 🤞

Reading this I think he is going to need very good legal representation. The police will be looking at the earlier robbery and asking if he knew about it and asking whether he was waiting for them to come back.

And possibly some questions for the Police to be answering too??

As long as someone doesn't take over their "patch" . We've been lucky around here, there's been very little stolen over the years to the point we've all been a bit too complacent, keys in the truck and quad, tractor never locked, chainsaw left by the fence overnight etc. Then when something does happen it's like front page news and just lately there's more gone on. Neighbour had a truck taken about 10 years ago,the landrover incident above was about 15 years ago and they stick in your mind as special events. Now there's been a dozen robberies in the last two years including ourselves. Ours was obviously a local but we couldn't get the police to see anything other than pikey camps in South Wales or Herefordshire. Crime number for your insurance and they've done their bit.

I think if anyone had been burgled the day before, you'd be 'upping your security' incase of a revisit. I'd defy anyone not to go to bed that night without some form of self-defence ready.
Don't forget that the burglars have gone armed too. We don't know the full details yet, but were they disturbed the day before? Doing a 'soft recce' before going in later? When you look where the farm is, up a long track, out on it's own, this hasn't been an opportunistic robbery. They've gone for a reason imo.
