Signet ,little known but as good as Snap OnHalfords pro, Teng.
Got a few things from signet and they are very good i have to say. Are Gedore that good?Signet ,little known but as good as Snap On
Just cant justify the cost of snap on.If you are wanting to buy a set of good spanner’s that are not going to leave workshop then bite the bullet and buy flank drive plus from snap on. Yes you will need to sit down and cry when you see the price
The ring end is no better than facom, gedore, beta, Mac etc but if you can’t get a ring spanner on and the nut is challenging these do make the difference.
In a past life I would have said that it’s all hype how good they were until used one on an oil rig well completion. Had to remove a fitting that a cheap spanner was just rounding. Guy from another company says hold on a minute try this spanner (snap on flank drive plus ) and voila it’s removed with no issue. That £30 spanner probably saved about £20k of non productive time in trying to remedy the situation (drilling companies terminology for shafting other projects companies working for them).
Yeah fully understand they are a bit like a status symbol for some mechanics hence the ridiculous prices.Just cant justify the cost of snap on.
My first socket set was Gedore ,that was 43 years ago and it had some abuse ,never cracked a socket ,maybe bent the Tbar but 3 ft of tube on the end of it has that affectGot a few things from signet and they are very good i have to say. Are Gedore that good?
Their offset ring on the combination spanner’s were also a good thing to have in a lot of situations. My first socket set was Gedore ,that was 43 years ago and it had some abuse ,never cracked a socket ,maybe bent the Tbar but 3 ft of tube on the end of it has that affect
If you break a cheaper spanner then that's when to spend out and replace with a higher quality one.If you can't afford to buy a set of high quality spanners then buy a medium value set & one high quality spanner of a size you use a lot, then a month or two later buy the next popular size & build up that way.
Trouble is that things tend to break right when you need them!If you break a cheaper spanner then that's when to spend out and replace with a higher quality one.
If you watch the Torque Test Channel on YouTube he rates their open ender better than SnapOn.What about a set of Mac spanners? Ive no idea on cost or quality.
Interesting! If you watch the Torque Test Channel on YouTube he rates their open ender better than SnapOn.
That's fine, but Snap On are literally 10 times the cost of the likes of Teng. How often are you going to to get a nut off with an open end spanner than you can't grind off if it rounds? If you are wanting to buy a set of good spanner’s that are not going to leave workshop then bite the bullet and buy flank drive plus from snap on. Yes you will need to sit down and cry when you see the price
