As above went to look at one today, boss is thinking of upgrading our xr3000.
Was wondering if anyone out there has one, how do you find it, usability etc.?

ok
went to a new auto drafter for a older 3 way running a xr 3000
it can do alot of things very clever but takes a bit of understanding how it works
have not got my head around rules based drafting but can work out multy drafting so can set up for weight gains and total weight etc if wanting to split up mobs better for finshing
what i have worked out is
make scanning data life time it will make sence later
i would also put in weaning weight as life time and may be 200 day or hogget mateing weight
add in breed sire and dam breed or numbers if know in smaller flocks or small mateing groups

ok scanning data we are looking at the ewes a bit harder some may be singles each year so get down graded there will be some that have a mixed line up say 1,1,2 or 2,1,2 so the 2,1,2 would be a better ewe one with 2,2,2 would be on the top ( not looking for triplets and to be far not wanting them on our country )
a clever person will know how to get a avg from scanning data so say ones with 1.5 IE a 1,2 from last 2 scannings would be in top lot a 1,1,2 would be a 1.3 and would be lower
so can do clever drafting

the only thing i can say is think hard before setting up files is the info only usefull on the day or say like weain weight that maybe of some use later on put it in a life file

the info that can be gained is good say diffrent sires can see there weight gains etc it's quite a good tool but think what you want to know and whats usefull for going forward in gains
