Tyre disposal cost

Just had a bill from our local tyre place, new tyre for our topper, which is what we expected but then a charge of £60 for disposal of the old tyre and the same amount for the old tube ! Now before I go in and make a fool of myself.......does anyone think they have made a mistake? The new tyre for the topper was just £90 !

My local tyre dealer let me dispose of tyres collected over the years and only charged me £2 tyre, admittedly mainly car tyres , and I took them to him, but yours sounds excessive to say the least

Wow! You should have just taken it home, take it to local refuse tip for nothing!

Seems to have shot up lately. £50 for 13,4r38 here. Try to do the right thing and you’ll be stung big time every time with all sorts of waste. Burn it in the open creating black smoke you can see for miles around and nobody bothers.

I’ve just put 4 news tyres on tractor, after i had priced them the dealer said there would be a disposal fee for the old tyres so I said then I’ll have to get a price else where to which he replied don’t worry about the fee ill sort that out

Local tyre firm to me charged me £20 to dispose of an 18" 3cx front tyre just the other day. £60 for the tyre and another £60 for the tube is daylight robbery. They are lifting your leg something rotten.

I paid £60 to get rid of a combine front tyre last harvest; it was an 800 from memory

Tyre disposal here for 4 x 4 type sizes is usually around $15 each

however, the other day I bought 5 brand new secondhand 225/95r 16 tyres ( $80 each instead of over $300 each 😮 ) & had them fitted on rims with old tyres.
I normally take old tyres home with me, but 2 of these had blown out & I didn’t want to take any, was quite happy to pay to get rid of them

dunno if they made a mistake or not, but no disposal charge for old tyres or tubes / rust bands

no charge for fitting or balancing either 👍
