Wales 20mph speed limit in every town

She who organises tour schedules has suggested a trip to Wales in May because apparently I need a break and a change of scenery.
I have explained to her the confusing Welsh government anti motorist policies and that she will have to drive and she should expect a blizzard of speeding fines.
Suddenly she finds Derbyshire more attractive so I will be spending my hard earned cash there.
I suspect that you will not be alone in avoiding Wales this year. :(

Lucky you.

I've got to go there for a few days next week (orders from the big boss). Needless to say i've asked that it be counted as foreign service.

Not forgetting their anti-tourist agenda!
It’s not anti-tourist. It’s anti-everyone and particularly farmers. They propose a tourist tax but that is not for this year as far as I know as there is a massive backlash from the tourist industry who would be expected to be unpaid tax collectors.
So far the 20mph limits are largely being ignored and there is a distinct lack of camera vans about. I’m not saying that they have taken them completely off the road but I’ve only seen one parked up and two passing on the road so far this year.

If you're travelling across Wales I doubt it it will actually add five minutes to the journey, it's the increased chance of getting done speeding unknowingly that's the issue. One local village has gone from 30 to 20 on the straight bit with no houses that doesn't matter and then back up to 30 a hundred yards before the primary school 🤔. There's been no accidents in twenty years but three since the change because people are looking for the signs instead of what's in front of them. One ran over a dog,got out of his car to see if it was alright and a car ran straight into the back of him, driver said he was looking up at the sign🫣

I too have noticed a distinct lack of Go Safe vans here in the north.
Thankfully, it appears that the “authorities” have got a dose of common sense

And my rough research suggests it’s mainly old men sticking to the 20 limit

They like the A5 …. Pluckers did me in Bala for wearing a dark visor back in the day. £30 too
Bikers paradise. Have a friend who rides at weekends, had put his stats up for one ride, but blanked out his top speed, but if you zoomed in you could make it out . What I saw would be fast on the autobahn never mind the twisty roads of north Wales.
Can hear them racing up the A5 on a Sunday morning from over 10 miles away 🤬

All middle aged men … only ones who can afford the insurance but when I rode, it was like going fishing .. a few hours on my own doing stuff

Every time I drive into Carmarthen, I am always stuck behind people driving at 20 or lower through Rhydargaeau and Peniel, so there might not be enforcement, but drivers are self enforcing the speed limit!

Skates to give formal guidance on Tuesday but looks like WG are rowing back bigly on 20mph. Only major fly in ointment is that it’s going to be on the councils to determine the roads reverting back to 30. Our council have spent a fortune recently painting 20 roundals on to road surfaces at the beginning of the restrictions so I guess they won’t bother reverting… but perhaps won’t enforce. Won’t stop the old men crawling along though

I think that's how it's supposed to work.:D
Use your car horn constantly as you travel behind them. This has the double benefit of warning local pedestrians and villagers of your approach so that they have plenty of opportunity to get out of the way of your speeding 20mph convoy. This is especially effective if you fit your charabanc with train or ship klaxons.

Neither am I. In fact I’ve actively stopped travelling by any means to large towns and cities that levy either a congestion or pollution tax on visitors that travel be car. That includes London, of course, but also places like Manchester. I used to enjoy travelling to concerts in those places and stopped at least overnight at nice hotels. No longer. They can get stuffed if they don’t want me travelling there and tax my visit as if I didn’t pay enough income, fuel and value-added tax for my visit already. On principle, I’ve drawn a line in the sand and I know others have also done so. If Wales does ever apply a tourist tax, I strongly suggest that you boycott the Principality and make it known the reason for you doing so.
