Weigh bars for crush

Given the penalties being imposed for over weight cattle by the abattoirs now, and the Beef Efficiency Scheme(still undecided ) I find myself in need of a weighing setup.

Got a good crush already so really looking for a weigh bar/cell system to use under it.
Linking to electronic tags isn't important to me yet but if it could be added later it might be useful.

No idea of what's good or bad, or how much ££££, or how we will fit it up, so all input would be interesting.
Thanks

How much are a set of weigh bars? We have to chain our crush to the wall so stop it sliding away from the race. How would that work with the weigh bars?

Have had my Allied Weighing bars for about 4 years, Had one issue with them and I think they charged £50 to mend them. Excellent service.
What was the problem with them and do you have them on a self trap or manual crush. The reason why our old ones broke is the cattle hit it so fast they lift the back end up

Painted 3 tonne are £449, galvanised are £520, that's including vat.
You can spec the box with bluetooth for a bit more, and an app to get a list of weights on to a pad or phone.
Sue told me that they work from home, so low overheads and no sales staff etc. Her other half Adam does all the assembly/techy stuff, so very much a family home business.
Good luck to them.

The crush moving is one thing that concerns me too a big charolais steer hitting the self close head stock at speed can move it a fair bit.
Anybody else got this bother? And how do you fix crush without messing up the weighing.

The crate needs to be free floating to get an accurate weight so cant be bolted directly to the race. Like you say a steamed up limo can make the crate jump about a foot forward so ours is tied to stop it moving to much but still allowing it to move up and down on the weigh bars. Perhaps a couple of chains from the race to the crate might do the job.

Ours is chained to the race. But once the chain gets tight I would imagine it would put more weight on the back of the crush and give you a false weight.
What about a weighing platform behind the crush with a sliding gate either end so only one animal at a time can be weighted.
