Hopefully a Westwood Garden Tractor passes for machinery[emoji1]

We have a Westwood T1300 which we use for various errands around the farm, but there is a distinct lack of brakes at the moment, when you push the pedal it declutched ok, just doesn't stop.

Does anyone know how you or if you can adjust the brakes? I have done a Google search but couldn't find anything.

Any help would be appreciated [emoji3]

If it is the same as our T1250 there is a small disc brake behind the right hand rear wheel. It is adjusted by threaded rod .Assuming of course that the pads are not worn.

Thanks for the reply, i will have a scrabble underneath it tomorrow and have a look, fingers crossed that the pads are not worn out
Very easy to change. Google westwood spares and they are cheap to replace but try adjusting threaded rod first.

Nearly always seized up.

Rhs wheel off, if it will!

Take note of where everything goes!

Undo 13mm nut that holds the arm on the brake caliper.

Then undo the bolts holding the caliper to the gearbox.

The disc should slide off its splined shaft, if it's seized it's a problem.

There is a brake pad behind the disc, don't lose it.

The pins in the caliper tend to seize too, knock them out, clean and grease, small amount of grease on the splined shaft.

Reassemble, adjust with the 13mm nut until you get resistance when turning the brake disc with your fingers.

They work well when looked after.

Don't forget to come to a complete halt before you change gear....
