Little nephew went to go get a goldfish for the tank he got for his birthday only to be told he needed a 60l tank so couldn’t have one, ffs 60l for a single goldfish
It's so true that boiler engineers are a shower of useless buggers. We have an old British Gas oil boiler, must be 40 maybe 50 years old. They came out 10 years ago, condemned it, so ever since dad has maintained it himself and it runs like a dream! My oil fired boiler (30 years old) is flaming out now and again. Cleaned the fuel inlet filter, big improvement but still a slight a problem. Next step replace the jet but where I normally buy the jet they say they can only supply to the trade now. Finally found a supplier in Republic of Ireland who would post one out, but makes me think the screws are tightening on older heating appliances probably trying to force us into heat pump crap.
The last certified engineer we had out fitted the wrong nozzle and it melted the splash plate at the back of the boiler. I disputed the nozzle type he’d fitted and he asked me what qualified me to tell him his job. Nothing, I said, the nozzle type required is printed here on the inside of the boiler door and it isn’t the one you fitted. At that he stormed off to his van and was never seen again. That was 10 years ago and I’ve maintained it myself since though I do have experience with gas turbine combustion chambers.
