The £200/acre + ,FBT guys.
The £60/AC....but with £200/AC drawings guys.

The bought and paid for guys....with staff to pay and kit on hp doing nothing.

The guys with no costs, except the rotted wheat with the £50/AC herbicides, and the determination to plant spring corn even if it gets 2t/ac and makes nothing, and holds up planting next back end.

It's a lot of sad guys, however you look at it.

Again very true, everything is cyclic, you either ride the cycle, get out when the goings or fail :(.
After 2007, I always told Mrs teslacoils that we could do a year with no crops. This was tested in 2011, and will be again this time around. If we had built the extension and had no cash, I'd be less happy.

Good job actual farming isn't my only income.

25% cap on land out of production. Looks like some of you will have to carry on farming!
Interesting.
Looks like it only effects SFI not CS.

Questions:
1. For those already in SFI, does it retrospectively affect existing SFI agreements?
2. Where we have both CS and SFI agreements, where the total of both exceeds 25%, does that mean that the SFI part of it has to be reduced so that the totals of both do not exceed 25%?

3. Surely, if SFI is now limited in its options so as to try to maintain at least a 60% self-sufficiency with regard English food, does this not now mean that some sort of food production subsidy (such as IACS or BPS) ought to be paid?
IMO it does.

4. Doesn’t this further show the utter incompetence of the Government in employing a scheme that up until now, has not taken any notice of actual food production?

Definitely should be no area payment for having land

I think it's hilarious in a way that this seems to be their first thought about home food production after this whole weed scheme was dreamt up !

And just goes to show how sobering it has been for them to turn on a sixpence also shows they soon kick all these schemes into the ragwort and nettles when they want to and the " environment"🙄 soon gets chucked on the backburner 👌

I’d 100% agree with that.
However, if they want food, surely they must encourage us to want to grow it, something along the old IACS system. So as to ensure that the foods they want and made attractive enough for us to grow.
That doesn’t just work for arable crops but livestock too, which IMO should include Pigs and Poultry, but could include Extensification payments to keep Cattle and Sheep stocking rates at a desired level.
