What should I be charging per hour for tractor and man

Somethings seriously wrong if using that much running roads empty. 240hp averages 22 litres mowing with triples. 40k eco box 6050s would do at least 7 mpg between jobs with silage trailers on.
240hp is far more economical than a 130/140hp tractor, last time I was mowing with a 130hp and 10' mower computer was showing 25+ ltrs an hour.
I post as I find, and the Nh6070 was road running at 3mpg, maybe it was dodgy who knows. I wasn't paying for the fuel.,

270hp Tigercat tree harvester uses 2000ltrs + in 5 days every week

I did 106 mile last week pulling cattle box empty one way and 18stirks in on way back. Don't no how much fuel I used off top of my head but I did set computer so I will look later but by yours maths it would be 35 gallons?
106 miles empty + 106 miles with livestock =212miles equals 10.1mpg

You only highlighted the bit that proved your point I probably should of punctuated it.

6 cylinder 125 hp should be the boss of 80% of implements found on UK farms. Anyhoo, this thread is heavy going, and needs a musical interlude.....:sleep:

Not really, i was carting silage with a 1135 fastrac and 16t trailer last week. If my trailer was full at bottom of field. The 800hp chopper had other trailer full before i was out of gate, just a 25 acre field. The 220hp tractor behind was lapping me.
I thought that was needed on a silage trailer so thought a 125hp would be just for pasture topping

The tractors has already earned its keep doing the other 300 hrs on the farm and I have no reason to expect a major breakdown. £6.66 doing something I enjoy is betting than doing nothing or doing something you don't like.

You enjoy driving tractors ?
I'd have to be paid a lot more than that to even think about driving one

Yes, I own tractors, am an arable farmer & have spent my whole adult life driving machinery
I still wouldnt say it was fun though . . .

That's your choice, as it would be to pay £40/hr when you could get someone in for£25 .

Unreal!
Please Pm his number 100 k tractor 30 k spreader his fuel £27/hr
Local spreader hire £180 /day that’s paid for almost 7 hrs spreading.
He’s got my work.
And everyone else's work as well
My 10 yr old 6050 does 300 hrs a year bought & paid for, if I did another 300 hrs contracting @ £25/hr as I am doing nothing else it would net me at least 2k after depreciation & fuel.
It would wear out your tractor faster and use up vaĺuble time esp the jobs that are put on the long finger also your insurance will all most triple only case I see if you did enourd at a good rate for a contractor that does you work to makeur bill smallĺ smaller

I would always pay contractors a fair price
They have to make money out of the job as well, if they are good / I have a relationship with them, then I want them to still be around next year
There's an old saying
Good
Fast
Cheap

Take your pick of any two, but you won't get all three

The transport / trucking industry here is a real cutthroat game with lots of broken calculators. There's even a joke about "truckies calculators".
There is always someone willing to undercut everyone else to "keep the wheels turning". Invariably it ruins things for everyone, customers included if their carriers go broke or have to cut corners. The trucking industry is littered with bankruptcies & repossessed vehicles

Thankfully, most Ag contractors here don't follow that same business model

No point risking your house / farm, working your guts out wearing machinery out for no reward, just for something "you enjoy"
I enjoy drinking & dirt bikes, if I'm going to go broke I'll do it that way thanks

But therein lies the rub unless everybody gets on board then the rates will stay low, and what happens if everyone decides to put up the rates? Someone will break ranks drop rates to get all the work and now you're back to squar 1.
