So I see there’s an impressive amount of machinery in an auction for these guys. I’m not looking for gossip, just intrigued as much of the machinery is so new.

Think that’s the 5th big contractor having a clear out in as many weeks.
Could be some cheap gear soon as there’s getting to be more machines then buyers in that sector.
Spoke to one of the auctioneers Monday and they were genuinely concerned prices for the big ticket items could be well down

I’m not a fan of the grassmen, but I have seen the dvds they did of Wilson farming. I thought they were really switched on guys with a real knowledge of the industry. I wonder what is ahead of us. It’s quite a thing to have 3 big M’s and so many foragers for sale, but presumably still running as before.
Whatever the case, I hope it works out for them. They seem very down to earth hard working fellas.

Are Wilsons just having a clear out of gear or packing up.
Think they had a sale about 10 years ago didn't they?

Crikey theses some. gear there he must have been huge if that’s a clear out

They used to hire out a lot of self propelled foragers. Local contractor used to have one all season and paid so much per clock hour for it.

Foragers look fairly well used op to nearly 5000 hours on some and 20 plate John Deere tractors the two I looked at 1300/1600 odd hours on them. I usually fall out with the Cheffins website seems to always go back to the start after you’ve looked at something .

Afaik they still hire out harvesters, theres a man near here that is an agent for them for hire and selling used ex hire tractors

It’s coming up 25 years since I worked for Harry,if someone rang asking for a wardrobe moving he’d have one of us do it,his favourite saying was “No such word as can’t,lad”
Nowadays his son runs the contracting and hire fleet,I wouldn’t read anything into them selling gear,they we’re doing the same 25 years ago but through different ways.

If it was too expensive no one would buy it.
But they do.
Same with Land. Everyone bangs on about it being too expensive. Yet when a bit comes up for sale/rent the same people are falling over themselves to buy it.
So by definition neither are too expensive
