Don't try this at home.
In the Bad Old Days when Old Velveteens was very fastidious in the defence of His Grace's pheasants, the trick was to use a live cartridge which discharged downwards against a sheet of steel plate mounted at 45 degrees and pointed towards the tripwire. But the peasantry knew their place back then and were not litigious because no win no fee lawyers hadn't been invented; and anyway, it was seen as an honour to be maimed by the Gentry.
