El Nino / Climate change creating all this wet weather ?

I see on the TV a few nights ago that the EL NINO effect might be creating this above average rainfall,as well as climate change. Would any meteorologists like to comment.
I guess this weather is great for the water companies ,keeping reservoirs topped up,also for wellington sales.
I wrote the above way back in January 2016,!!!!!
Moving on 8yrs when is the El Niño ,that is “SUPPOSEDLY”partly the cause of the horrendous wet weather the uk and Europe has been having since October ,going to fizzle out ,in the hope we “Might” start to get some drier weather????
Perhaps @Simon Keeling may wish to comment as he kindly did in posts “No5,9,11”,which would be appreciated .
Meanwhile the Cotswolds have never looked so saturated ,so I dread to think how wet most of your land is in the rest of the UK and Europe.

Just looked at the met office long range forecast and this weather is set to continue, especially in the south!
At the end of January they all the forecasts were predicting a cold dry blocking high from mid Feb onwards.
I lost count of the number of times the 10 day forecasts were wrong last year.
So I take any long range forecasts with a pinch of salt these days.

Was chatting to our foot trimmer yesterday who said he'd been chatting to an old boy at a mart before Xmas. He said there was two new moons in a month last July ( havnt checked it) and when that happens it'll rain for a year and a day. So who knows could be a few more wet months yet.
Funnily enough an old timer said exactly the same to me last September & it stuck with me as he quoted the last time it happened & it p*ssed with rain for around a year after that too................roll on July
