Farming simulator controllers

Probably should be in computers but thought there may be a few more here to answer. My son loves farming simulator which he plays on the Nintendo Switch. He has asked for a different controller setup which has a steering wheel, pedals and side panel. Does anyone else have a Nintendo Switch and what controllers do you use? I can see it will make it even more realistic but just wanted some user opinions.

this is what I am looking at -

I've asked in the Farming Simulator discord channel and the consensus is that the logitec controller set won't work with Nintendo Switch I'm afraid. If the boy wants the maximum Farm Simulator experience then you will need to use a PC or buy him of PS4. The PS4 can run with the G27 steering wheel and the Logitec side panel but won't work with the full logitec package.

Many every-day office PCs will run farming simulator if you put a graphics card in them. Of the latest cards a GTX 1660 (approx £200) will run farming simulator no sweat.

Also note that the Logitec set has only one joystick rather than two if your son wants to play with forestry equipment.

Thanks for the replies. I was afraid that may be the case unless @MRT finds out it is being used on a Switch. It was always going to be an issue when choosing one console over another.

The latest game, FS19 is the one to get really. You can play it on Xbox, PS4 or PC but in all honesty the PC offers the better experience and more longevity as there is literally endless mods for it.

Thanks for the replies, next question as I'm quite computer illiterate is do I need the graphics card and steering wheels for maximum enjoyment and to keep him keen,he has just been mowing with me and I think it's great he's looking on his tablet and comparing machines on a free download of FS17

You will need a graphics card in your PC to play it. I don't know what is in your existing machine but generally on-board graphics (the usual fare in many desktop machines sold for business use) will not run the game at all.

You do not need the steering wheel set to enjoy the game, an Xbox controller (£25 last time I looked) and/or keyboard and mouse will work fine depends what the boy wants.

FS19 has an extensive collection of (free) mods to go with it so virtually endless other machines to download and add to the game.

If you intend to buy the game for PC it might be worth downloading and installing Steam (an online gaming service) and buying the game through that service. He will want the platinum edition of the game. Often Farm sim is on sale but the current game is about £30.

He will be getting his older sisters HP pc as she needs an upgrade for uni work so not sure what is on that

Basically you need 8GB of RAM, a reasonable processor (nothing too mental though) and the graphics card.

Follow the instructions in the link to see what specs you have, then post them here on this thread so I can see.

My current FS17 set up using the Saitek steering wheel and joystick with my laptop. It totally transforms the game when I was using a Xbox 360 PC controller.
