So, hypothetically Of course, you had bought a drill with the grant and decided it’s not for you and wish to sell it.
It says you must keep it for 5 years is there a way it can be checked?

They do audits.
Visiting to check it's on farm, or pictures possibly.

Not on everything, but enough to make you think twice.
I think if you need to sell it, you can ,but you'll need to pay back some of the grant

In a sane world there would be a formula whereby you could sell it and the less years you keep the drill the higher the % of the grant you have to return. Any rule that makes liars out of folks is a stupid rule.

ha, edit, looks like you can.

I bought a drill on the cpgs back in September 2018. Since then, our requirements have moved on, so i enquired as to the position re upgrading. As of 25th March this year I can do as I like with it. If I'd sold it earlier, id have to pay back part of the grant.

It has to be kept in uk, plenty of "hire" opportunity if it's not on your farm
iirc a cpsg drill can only be used on your own farm.
In any case, if you move it on, the buyer has to be bound to keeping the thing until the grant date expires, and that's hardly fair is it!

I personally would risk not playing by the rules….had a check on a dribble bar through the grant….was here in an hour of the phone call…I was happy enough for visit as everything was in order ….
