The jet stream.

That is unreal. Doesn't seem like there is any connection at all? Some predictions did suggest that increased polar melt would disrupt the gulf stream, if not switch it off all together.

You're muddling up two things - the Jet stream, which is high altitude winds (which are a big factor in the UK's day to day weather) and the Gulf stream which is movements of warm water around the Atlantic (which makes the UK's climate warmer than its actual latitude would suggest).

Thank you yes I phrased that badly. Jet streams belong more in the realm of weather, whereas ocean currents belong in the realm of climate.

Meandering jet stream is mainly the result of a lesser thermal gradient between the Arctic and the Equator .Much less arctic ice than say 60 years ago being the main cause of a weaker jet stream. Main cause of ice loss being a warming world atmosphere for whatever reason. The North Atlantic was several degrees warmer than average over most of last winter, Locked weather patterns much more common with a jet stream with loops in it (meridional)

Wondering whether cloud seeding is having more effect than we realise ,
Some countries desperate for water , some trying to get rid

Been done for decades in dry regions, effect very local and limited, you need clouds to seed and if you can induce it to rain it often just means somewhere else gets less rain.

You might try seeding clouds out in the Atlantic so they shed some rain but it would be costly and limited effect.
