Absolutely banging down again.
As wet as its ever been over winter.
Water stood everywhere.
Seriously thinking its a write off year.
Can not see it getting dry enough in time to drill any spring crops as will take weeks to dry up even if did stop raining and most winter stuff rotted months ago..

Reminds me of the Ray Bradbury short story 'All summer in a day". Where the sun is only visible for 2 hours every seven years.

Mind you that was on Venus and science fiction. Doesn't seem that far fetched at the moment though.

Has to be a set rivers so even if you were flooded by streams and rain you get feck all
Yes, I get that.
The latest update says this:

11 April 2024
Updated to reflect a change to eligibility criteria, with farmers able to receive payments for all land parcels which are flooded contiguous to an eligible river.

The trouble is knowing which are the eligible rivers and does that include brooks and ditched that join the river?
It isn’t just where flooding occurred that the problems are. It is land that was waterlogged so badly that it killed a planted crop. The damage is so bad, it might have well have been flooded. It is going to take a lot of work to get that land back into a condition that will make it grow something sensible.
I’m talking of almost 1/3 of this Farm’s arable area.
The next third also being severely compromised!

I’ve emailed RPA to see what, if anything is available to this farm.

I’m wondering if the word ‘Marsh’ in our Town’s name helps.
