looks like beef might just be moving up. know of 2 firms up 2p this week.

Fat cattle are starting to get short in numbers.... partly due to the fact no one knew where the price would level off at plus the current unsustainable price of stores means many fhinsher's haven't re-stocked/ pushed cattle like any other year...

Possible abattoir strike, Russian ban( Beef got to go somewhere so lets send it to UK) doesn't give me too much confidence though

UK fat cattle just aren't about currently and wont be until nearer xmas at least.... cant see the proccessors letting a strike happen ( other than the odd day ), they need to keep killing/ cutting up to cover the order books/ fixed costs of running these plants which aren't cheap by any means...

Dire trade at longtown today 41kg texel out of texel £70 yet mules only couple of quid cheaper. What is the point of trying to breed quality

Why! Do they know something we don't, or is it a case of always have always will, hands firmly in pockets this year.
i agree, but the cull trade is still strong if you get £80 for a cull £135 isnt to bad for 5/6 crops of lambs and then cull price again, same old story though every body earns out of the lambs except the farmer

We keep hearing cull trade is good. But that's a difference of £55. When a good shearling was £90 and culls were making £50 we were better off. And the dead ones were less of a loss. People don't seem to see this.
