Trade was pretty poor. Romney lambs? Yep you'd be best to talk to either @Wooly or @Frank-the-Wool.

Ashford store sale was a fair reflection of the finished price.
I sold Texel X lambs and only took half of them home, the heavier ones I kept as I felt that selling good lambs weighing 35kg at less than £1.70 per kg was not very good business!!
The lighter ones at £53 - 54 looked a fair price.

It is unlikely that finished lamb price will alter much until November when numbers tighten.
If lambs are weighing 40kg plus then it is probably right to keep selling them even if they are in the low £60's.
There will be enough store lambs being marketed between now and November to keep the price at a relatively low price unless a miracle happens and sterling falls in value.

The main sales of Romney lambs start in September.
If you are looking for ewe lambs send me a PM!

leyburn average 155p heavy- 157.6 for standard! what is going on these are foot and mouth prices? not many in 950 or so.. not like its in the 1500 of off grass lambs:scratchhead: i'll wait for me cheque but it dont bode well when they put the pence/kilo price up instead of per head. I've been convincing myself and the oh to lamb 3/4 weeks later but having got half my lambs away at £95/head when better off milk and grass lambs are now making? £62..65. Dont know what to think?
