Did one come bent already then?

No I got a couple with flystrike. Whilst catching it in the pen the others were pushing on it. I could see it bowing but didn't realise till I folded them up how far it went.

I know the rappa and prattley ones are oven baked which makes them spring back. Hence twice the price I suppose.

Something I'd also have done if I made some more of my own.

I use a polystone/carbonate sheet on my races. I've found stokboard warps in the heat and can pop tek screws or rivets off over time. This other stuff doesn't, it allows you to go thinner as well.
I have Stokboard around my cattle race, held on with plastic cable ties. I was going to use stainless, but then found out that was a no-no on galv steel hurdles because of corrosion issues.

That’s shocking!
I’ve seen my Rappa race panels bent much further than that and I’ve always cringed what it will look like when the stock release the pressure on it but they’ve always been fine

I assume that's the main advantage of the heat treatment. Added strength and a certain amount of springiness.

Which these obviously haven't got.

For the price they are well made and will do a job.

The old adage of you get what you pay for is in play here I think

I can't stand crates where the gate opens back into the flow of stock.

Didn't know which way to put the back one. As it stands ones coming from behind can't push it open, but a sheep on the crate can back up and open it but I will put a latch on the handle to stop that.

Rappa race crate back one opens into the crate. Ones behind can push it open but they rarely do. Good job. There will be a lot of satisfaction if it works well first.

Is that allied weighing load bars and sorry if you already know this but don’t bolt the load bars feet down tight. They need a bit of give. That’s why the likes of TruTest have rubber feet if they are bolted down.

Yea allied bars. I've had them quite a while and only just got round to using them.

They aren't bolted yet but intend to do. Thanks for the tip. đź‘Ť

10 times more likely for the lamb in the crush to push back rather than the next lamb to push forward.
