Sheep Handling Mobile System

Only have a tiny flock at the moment and have a full time job plus the gear to do it so I didn't fancy splashing out the money for one, I'll make one instead.

Already have a couple of locals interested in one if I can sort it plus I can hire this one out to recoup some of the outlay.

Phase 1 - the hurdles. Just started with enough Ally for 6 but I will make up to 20 for my setup.

Good on you for trying.
You did not invite observations, but I guess you were hoping for some. Can you make a couple of extra bends on the bottom bar so that it sits on "feet" instead of the whole length of the rail, makes for steadier standing on uneven hard ground.
Sheep will get their heads through top loops, and may take off wearing hurdle for a necklace.

observations welcome, good or bad.

I did consider the 'feet' on the bottom rail but those two connected hoops are bought at 2.5 m lengths and it was just easier to bend all the same. obviously putting more bends in the bottom rail would of taken more length off the tube so would of meant some trimming of the top rail. if you get me? The prattley ones i've cop.....er I mean seen also have flat bottomed hurdles, it seems to work for them so i thought i'd stick with it.

As for the loops, good spot, that may need altering.

When you go in to production can you put them on the classified section?(y)
Great job, pat on the back for effort, if when you try it aint exactly perfect you wont be afraid to modify it because you made it anyway, and everyone has a prototype so good on you, anyone who has passed negative comments on things I have made in the past can't weld anyway so if someone slags it of it will be more jelousy than any thing else IMO!;):)

Looks a tidy job. What did you use to weld it up?
Running a 190Amp Tig box through an oil cooled stick welder to get the AC power source using 2.4mm Zirconiated tungstens and 2.4mm 5356 rods.

How much for 2m hurdles?

These I have made are 900mm high x 1760mm long.
In ally alone they cost me £36.54 for 1 hurdle.

The reason they are that length is that where I get the ally from, it comes in either 2.5m or 5m lengths so to save messing about trimming bits I bent up the 2.5m lengths to get the 900mm height and ended up with said length.

If I was to be picky, best to stick with regular hurdle size (in your area) less excuse for the punters to grumble, regardless of original supplied length. Can you get a cheaper supplier, leave a bit more in it for all your hard work?
Tidy bit of work, don't think its your first try at a project ................

Some nice features in that CAD drawing

By the time he welds some loops on for connecting rods, they'll be around 1800 long which I guess could be described as a fairly standard size?
