Anyone still got land available for spring barley, but seed not purchased yet?
I need to find growers who can grow and store spring barley through to Jan/ Feb 24. I am looking for anything 5 has up to 60 has of Laureate, Diablo, some Planet.
This is for seed production C2 - better suited to...
I don't disagree with anything you have said regarding price saving on seed cost, but do bare in mind that the erucic acid levels in OSR grain now sit at 2% max over which loads will be rejected and that shed OSR seed (from forgotten industrial rape crops perhaps) can sit in the soil 30 years...
They are both members of the cruciferous family so the likely answer is YES to some degree. However the stubble turnips wont be in the ground too long, unlike OSR. Flea beetle risk I suspect too.
There is one new Clearfield variety that is up there with conventional hybrids, but seed in short supply (shorter supply). Prices are not bad at all now as most key breeders have one, so competition is good. I note original poster is in Stratford upon Avon - I am passing through that County on...

Another crop of Siverka to be cut today or tomorrow in Cambridgeshire plus a further four or five locally (two different varieties). Should have some yield figures soon. The crop I've been monitoring did suffer with compaction from the outset due to heavy rain after drilling, plus a cool May...
I have an enquiry from a merchant for Talisman acreage for seed production for 2017 harvest.
Anyone got any repeat acreage or land coming out of a break that could do this. Also have an enquiry for six row barley land for seed?
Firm commitment with premium.
Quality standards of course. 'Eyes...
negative geotropism - Glyphosate can produce abnormal rooting where the roots go against gravity and grow upwards. If the seed is drilled deep enough then the plant will still be able to gather nutrients and moisture, but its not an ideal situation to be in !!
After my previous comment I discovered yestrday that I can get a joint deal on Veritas CL and Cleranda working with a Berseem clover companion crop. Also delayed payment on offer - so depends what preference you have.
This is why Belepi was not put forward for RL recommendation - drill it in October and by May its a full GS ahead of everything else. Also all the plots are harvested on the same day when the latest maturing variety is fit - October / November drilled Belepi would be two weeks ready before it...
