A farming partnership in Surrey has been fined £36,000 after a man was “crushed” by five hay bales, which toppled and fell on top of him, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has said.
Christopher Rolfe of Horsham, West Sussex, sustained four rib...
Age didn't used to bother me, I'm a young 60 fit, cycle hike, brain still thinks I'm 20, body starting to slow up a bit, .
But christ 60 depresses the he'll out of me. Next milestone if I get that far is 70 and that will come quickly. Then knackers yard.

Got a problem one of you may be able to help me with.
Had 2 very large Ash trees dropped last year (Die back). Some of the trunk rounds are difficult to split for fire wood. Tried wood splitting grenades, but at 78 I have to have a lie down after a few swings. These rounds are heavy and much to...
I've recently been visiting several local farms volunteering my labour for free on evenings and weekends and so far, every response has been a no.
Am I missing something? I would have thought farmers would be happy to have an extra pair of hands to help out when needed, especially for free...
I am also a child from a rural area in China, and I used to be very poor. I had very little land to cultivate.
Our family of four had only 7,175 feet of land. Very little. We farmers were forced to go out to work to barely make ends meet.
I would like to know how much arable land you farmers in...

Predicted that within 5 years new cars won't be offered with a manual gearbox.
Change driven by rise (& legislation) of EVs but also by new drivers opting to learn only on automatics.
Be a bit sad IMO as it's a pleasure & a skill to match gear changes to revs but with flappy paddles, I have...

Dad worked on farms in the 1950's-1970's. He bought his first house in about 1976 when no longer working on farms so at least he managed to get a foothold outside of tied cottages. Always a mixed blessing.

A local resident /Highways have obtained approved road closure during June, July and August. This will mean that large vehicles will be unable to leave or reach farms and businesses in the local area as the alternative diversion route is too narrow for access. Is there anything that can be...
How do others find this? Twice now it's jammed on the brakes with nothing in front but another vehicle coming the other way while slowing down to pull into our driveway.
You can't permanently turn it off.
How's seasoned users getting with these safety features?
As above we employ an 18 year old apprentice that wrote his car off a couple of weeks ago due to careless driving and is now looking at getting a new car but doesn't want to use it for running around the yards with (which is fair enough) so he wants putting on the farm van insurance... what...
Just had a claas jaguar 970 delivered does anyone know if the right hand arm rest / controls can be raised and if so how? I have attached a picture and circled what I would like to raise.
Many thanks
Mate , just got a call on the phone from the UK which left me perplexed, so given the so few UK based organisations that I'm evenly remotely connected to gave arise to the fact that maybe it was a cold call from the TFF call centre if such a thing exists.
The politely spoken person sounded like...
I don't think Tim Parton posted much here but sometimes did. Others will know him. He seems to have had an awful accident and (I think) he was a farm manager so may not have as much to fall back on as others. It sounds absolutely horrendous, so sorry to hear of this, it could happen to any of...
