I’m only an employee and get the courses paid for, but I still think it’s the easiest way to gain the points you need, yes I get a couple here n there with mot test, agro meeting, and the odd show (in own time), but the time it takes and the costs of travel to meetings/shows and your own time, surely it’s still better value of your time/money to just do 1 of the yearly courses to gain all the points you need in 1 hit

I struggle to believe it too, but that came from Hutchinsons. The expectation is it will be EU led, and that we shall of course obediently follow.

Just imagine how unworkable it would be. They can’t even agree on a common system yet; even after that point all of the chem manufacturers would have to get on board and change all of their production kit….along with the sprayer manufacturers; probably easy enough for the big boys but all of the parallel import stuff!? Powders….managanese that comes in IBC’s…. I can see new sprayers coming kitted up but there are so many sprayers out there that aren’t new…. And where does it end? 3m quad sprayers? Knapsacks?

Aparrently there are about five self contained systems, from various manufacturers ready to roll.
Chems will be in cans with standardised 63mm necks, and the valved caps will be compatible with all the CT systems, they may initially also be capable of being unscrewed for conventional pouring.
Generic boys will have to go to std containers or not sell anything.
Don't shoot the messenger.

Apologies; I just get frustrated with influential organisations scare-mongering farmers when the reality is very different (imo). The job is stressful enough without added burdens.

At Cereals this year, one stand was stating most chemical manufacturers and some generic ones had agreed on a cap. It was compatible with closed transfer but still offers manual opening too. The main problem is the cans have to have centre opening like BASF containers not the standard 5/10 litre handle one side, opening other. This has taken longer than envisaged, but was meant to be mainstream this coming spraying season. Time will tell!
It was news to me, and I expect to others, that it appears it will be compulsory to have closed transfer chemical induction systems on, or at the filling point of sprayers, within about 5 yrs timescale.
You mean RT are working on it being compulsory probably 😭.

And they don't carry points forward so with lamma and other places coming up to achieve points , waste of time if you already got enough until next August.
With the old 3 year scheme you could get points when you could and bank them .

I’ve also heard a big stumbling block is the system only works on whole bottles (vs part cans) and also as said is designed for 5 or 10 litre cans. You imagine balancing a 20litre can of barbarian upside down by its neck. Save the contamination issue but create a manual handling one; not to mention time if said 20litre drum becomes 2 or 4 smaller ones. Then waste goes up. And so on…

The new standardised containers have measuring graduations down the side to permit drawing off less than full cans, in the inverted position. There is a rinsed clean break system to facilitate clean removal of part cans. It seems likely that there will remain a small inductor on the machine, for tiny dose products like Ally and Hallmark etc.
