We had it a good few years ago moving feeding bulls from the top farm down to home. Only a 5 minute wagon ride but one was dead when we dropped backboard. Rang our insurance, got a PM from the vet who confirmed heart attack and we were paid within 3 weeks of claim

Intresting one as a lorry carrying pigs overturned on the A303 today and several were sadly killed it has been reported.

As I understood it from our insurance, if the animal is in transit we were covered. If it had walked down the backboard, into the pen and THEN collapsed, there’s nowt we could do. So it’s defo worth a phone call!

If I get a sheep dead on a wagon from Scotland one group of auctioneers will knock the dead ones value off my account straight away. The others tell me it’s my problem to deal with. The excess on the hauliers insurance is that much you just have to write it off.

I'd expect to be able to claim off haulier's insurance, but fortunately never had to so no idea if it would be successful.

Stand a 2k loss because the haulier wouldn't work for you again,

that's what their insurance is for and if they are that fickle well theres plenty more hauliers about .....

It's not dead in the pen at home , it's in the back of a lorry , circumstances diff , it's in transit and insured
