I don't really get how this could work (for me anyway)
On my ground, I have footpaths everywhere already,
the walkers just let their dogs off and they rampage all over the crops and chase the cattle and that seems fine/normal.
If you challenge them about it, they get very angry and nasty.

So in my case why would they pay, when they can do it anyway.
Some even drive out and park on the road side and walk with their dogs running everywhere...

I would say quite a lot of our clients use the secure fields to avoid the type of arrogant dog owners / "professional" dog walkers which you described.

I will be putting in planning later this year for one (need to get another planning application sorted first)

With the business rates, does anyone know what happens if you cease using the land for dog walking and go back to agricultural (or in this instance equestrian)?

Are you still stuck with paying rates? We would be having to pay as already get rates relief for the livery we have.

I think you are stuck with it unless planning to turn back

What sort of occupation rates are people seeing?

Trying to draw up a plan at the moment as well situated between two busy towns with very good access, open probably from sun up to sun down.

Is 60% realistic? Want to be conservative rather than overconfident but interested to hear others experiences

60% of what total daylight hours or do you plan to have lights, work out how many hours available\open for each month

Absolutely impossible to say! We've been open over 3 years and I still can't see a pattern to the bookings.
Weather plays a big part in the number of bookings, hot weather being the worse for a drop in bookings. We were 50% down in bookings last week to the previous week.
You may find the council will put a limit on the hours you can open.
There is definitely a limit to the number of customers, if there are other fields locally doing well don't expect to be doing as well, you'll probably end up sharing the same customers unless you can offer something different.

I've often wondered about dogs using the same small field
continuously. How do people keep on top of health ,worm control?
Is it a healthy place to exercise your pooch or are you putting it at risk?
