You're really having a tough time, you have my sympathies Dave. Had the bull bred your cows for this year?
I hope so !
to be honest I went all sheep and was happy without the cows , Sarah wanted a few calf’s about the place so we bought the four silver Dunn Galloway’s in calf from a mate and bought Alf the bull back as he’s a placid fella and throws easy calving calf’s .I curse the buggers every day , but secretly love them to bits

What's not to like about cows, except the work. Miss my cows but it's a relief they've gone.

@Wood field what a sad loss, a boy you knew from a baby. Whitbreds are lovely creatures.

If it's any consolation, we've all been there with you. Just keep trudging and soon the clouds will break. Hope wife is home soon and home fires burning again.
His mother was bought in calf but only one quarter, so we bottled him to top him up
A big gentle lad !
At least we gave him a good life

How about stepping back and having a rest , things may look better if we ever get some good weather.
( that’s what I keep telling myself)
Trouble is I got 1250 to lamb as as 3000 dry hoggs on my own at work, plus 220 ewes and 30 hoggs that I own that are completely separate and have to done at weekends and lunch. I’m hoping work take the land back and we up the ewes by 200 and pay for someone one day a week to help me.

It's not a bad idea, when you think about it, imagine a drone with a hopper slung underneath. Could do proper slipper farming from the comfort of your sofa, wouldn't trash the fields either. Now... where's my pencil and drawing pad.

It is doable, with the heavy lifting drones about now. :D

@Jonp I have resolved your problem... Had a neighbour who had one in his big garden and several properties, rated it very highly.

Just need a little platform to stand on and sorted.
