Currently using a phone that belonged to Noah. Is there anything a bit more modern that`s small enough to fit in my shirt pocket, and not too fiddly for big fingers?

Go to a shop and try them would be my advice. Make sure it runs on Android and just choose the size and style to suit your budget. I've tried the £200 kind and the much more expensive kind and in all honesty there is zero real difference in functionality- you'll get a bigger and better screen but that's less of a consideration if you want a phone that fits your pocket. Mine is about the size of a pocket diary and I wouldn't honestly want to go any larger.

I have an iPhone 14, like it a lot, not particularly cheap but if you use it all the time for things other than just making calls, I think it pays to have something decent.
Had an SE before the 14 and a 6 before that, never had any problems with them. I'm good at looking after my possessions though which is something quite a lot of people struggle with.

iPhone SE here and like it, smaller than most and that’s why I bought it out right. Only downside is battery life isn’t great as it gets older

They’re not just phones though are they, in fact I very rarely actually ring anyone on mine, I use it for 101 other things though from listening to music to all my banking/bill paying, it’s my sat nav, camera, diary, finding out how the feck you do that device.

A couple Mrs Bg knows have just bought themselves new phones a bargain at 3k for the pair. Another family that are always short!

I like iPhones so just stick with them, just changed. The last one lasted 3 years which is good for me. On a bottom spec 15 now which I like. I spend some cash on a decent case.

I have an old iPhone8 and it is now over six years old. At about five and a half its battery finally crossed below 80% capacity and it declined quickly from then on. About four months ago I had Apple replace the battery for £60 and it has transformed its charge interval, but it still needs a daily top up. Some time next year I will probably upgrade the business’s three phones.

I forgot the point of this post which is that I think the iPhone SE is a more modern version of the 8 and as such is a nice size but the screen is actually small for the size of the body due to blank areas at the top and bottom. Compared to newer phones about 1.5 inches of the total screen is wasted. That’s one reason, along with better cameras, for me to eventually upgrade even if my 8 and wife’s 7Plus still actually work.

This is why sensible people don't buy an iPhone.

I never noticed the small screen thing on my SE until I changed to a 14 and gave my 11 year old the SE. It’s a huge difference.

Not sure how I ended up with them though as I’m quite sensible and apparently sensible people don’t buy them 🤷‍♂️

@Moors Lad If you have a big Tesco's near you, go into their phone shop and grab an Android phone, probably a Moto G of some flavour that suits you. I have found that they are as cheap as anyone, including online and often better! Good and easy to deal with a warranty claim if required too.

You can buy SIM free, or PAYG or a Contract, whatever rocks your boat!

Amazon sometimes has specials, but make sure the seller is Amazon not some Amazon Seller in case something goes wrong...

I've never had any issues getting a refund from an Amazon purchase. They are pretty strict with sellers (although I think all customers are secretly ranked mind because some people can and do take the pish with returns).

I changed our tired iPhone SE in for Google Pixel 7's a year ago. Much better battery life, but must say that I still prefer the iPhone for using, rather than Android. The trade-in deals through the Google online store were insane, leaving us with only £125 to pay out on each Pixel. They paid us more for the old SE's than new ones would have cost.

No idea what offers they have currently though.

I always had "one flagship model " back from newest Samsung galaxy s . 2 phones back I deserted and went over to " Moto" . It was a good phone with all the bells and whistles , but when I changed it next , I went back to Samsung . No real reason - I wasn't dis- satisfied with my Moto , but I still feel happier with a Samsung . Brand loyalty ??

Might be worth going via motorola site for 10% discount on newsletter sign up (but need to perster them for the code). Just bought a Moto G84 for £250-£25 = £225 and happy with it so far. Won't fit into a shirt pocket like most smartphones (6.5" x 3" x 0.5"). Supposedly the camera is the weak point but seems okay for what I do with it. 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, think it can do twin SIMS if you need different networks for different ground (not checked that out yet). 5G for whenever that turns up. They've got some "early black friday" offers on other models too.

Apart from the Doro flip job, how many others fit this spec. ??

If it's small enough to fit in a shirt pocket, the buttons are possibly too small. I could just about manage with an old Sony Erricson clamshell jobbie although it wasn't a smartphone, just voice and text and very basic camera really. But the clam bit was handy for protecting screen. Buttons are 0.25" x 0.5" on a physical keypad rather than an onscreen keypad (do you have dirty/wet fingers?) Easily fits in shirt pocket, many folk will have similar lying unused in drawers after upgrading to smartphones that they might let you have free.
