We've certainly avoided the usual problem of no rain after late sowing spring crops ! 30mm here today so far, 70 this month, over 100 since my beans and barley went in late April.
Unchartered territory really.

Agronomist visiting tomorrow, he advised me to SFI the lot. A small area new to me with blocked drains still fallow, but really happy with the spring barley. Swedes drilled last night into a rather cloddy seedbed, but hopeful for those too.

Nowt!
That said not far away from where that field is, there is a farmer that grows seed potatoes on land not quite so stony, on which they use a destoner.
Trouble is itā€™s a hell of a job spreading the stone the following year before the next cereal crop is sown.
