No, I am NEVER going to grow up!

I ordered a Clulight head torch for Mrs Fred yesterday tea time knowing it wouldn't arrive til the New Year but that was OK. I just went to the first seller on ebay , saw they had a high rating and it said it would come from Essex after Christmas.
This morning, I receive a text to say my package from Ernest Doe would arrive this morning at 10, I couldn't think what parts I had ordered but sure enough it was my torch. So full marks to Doe's for great service. Just seeing the name made me smile with memories of Triple-Ds :)

Just discovered another new and exciting pleasure- I have been tidying up the house and found a carrier bag of 1p, 2p and 5ps that mum must have sorted but never got round to paying in. I decided to have a purge of all the change in the house so bunged the whole lot in two carrier bags, took it to the Natwest and fed it all through the change machine. What a cool piece if kit, it sorted a couple of thousand coins in about 5 minutes and coughed up a ticket for £160 pounds along with a fencing staple and 2 euros. The cashier lady saw me grinning and asked if I had enjoyed myself. :)

Did they just pay it straight into your account or give you beer vouchers?

I took the chitty along and the lady paid it into my account but I should have asked for vouchers. Everyone else seems to have been using these things since about 1934 but I've never done it before and I'm easily pleased. I did think about popping down to Torquay for the day and putting all the 2ps in the slide machines in the arcades but I was vetoed. :(

Perhaps you should have suggested Lyme Regis! 😁

That reminds me of another thing that made me smile- West Bay! In all the 40 years I have been driving up and down to Devon both college and since, I have never ever stopped off at West Bay. The farm staff on my sandwich job all used to go there en masse for the summer holidays (Something called "Krankies Komic Kuts" comes to mind) but I never went there. Then we were going past a few weeks ago on the way back from the sheep agm and Mrs Fred said "Let's go to West Bay for a 99er (At least I think she said 99er) so down we went as it were. I wasn't disappointed, it had everything a 1950s seaside paradise should have like lots of concrete and about 100 ice cream emporiums as well as a quality tat store. We've promised to return soon.
